Year 5/6 Sportshall Athletics – County
Earlier today, a squad of Year 6 children represented the school at the county Sportshall athletics competition in Kettering. The squad earned their place at the county finals after a fantastic 1st place finish at the district event in late January.
Sportshall athletics includes many different events: sprinting, jumping, throwing and working as a team. Throughout the competition, children compete in track and field events to help score points for their team.
It was a pleasure for Mr Willars, Mrs Walker and Mr Oelrich to attend this event with the children as they showed amazing cooperation, respect and determination during all the events. They are extremely proud of the children too for cheering each other on loudly and enthusiastically in all events. It was a treat for us to be able to see children excelling and giving their all in the field events too!
After completing all of their events, it was time for the children to find out how they had performed overall. Out of the 10 schools who competed in the event, Woodland View came a competitive 8th overall! This was an amazing achievement in a strong, and closely fought, competition; the squad have performed fantastically in both rounds and we are delighted with all they have achieved!
We are incredibly proud of our 2025 Sportshall squad as they have achieved a brilliant top 10 finish (out of over 100 schools who have competed at district level) at the county games! We can’t wait to see what other successes they have throughout the remaining academic year!
