Parent Governor Vacancies

Are you looking to contribute to the future success of your child’s school?

If so, I am excited to inform you that we have 2 vacancies for the role of Parent Governor on our Governing Board.

The Governing Board plays a vital role in the success of our school as it is responsible for providing confident and strategic leadership, and creating robust accountability and oversight for the school’s educational and financial performance. The Board is passionate about education and committed to continuous school improvement to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children.

As a Parent Governor, you’ll work with the Board to make sure it effectively carries out its duties. You’ll also play an important part in bringing a parental perspective to the Governing Board.

A Parent Governor should have a strong commitment to the role and, most importantly, to improving outcomes for children.
If you’re interested in the role, please email me at head@woodlandview.northants-ecl.gov.uk  to give an expression of interest. I will then liaise with you to arrange a visit to school, to give you more information about the role and answer any of your questions.

The deadline for expressions of interest is Monday 4th November. Thank you in advance to any parents who consider this exciting opportunity.

Halloween Cake Sale

This Thursday at 3.15pm we have our first cake sale of the year. This Halloween themed cake sale has been organised by the Friends of Woodland View and aims to raise important funds for the school by selling delicious treats! Please help us by sending your child to school on Thursday with a cake or sweet treat which will be sold after school.

Parents’ Evening

When we return after half-term, we are straight into Parents' Evening week. This is an important time to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss their progress so far and look at some of their work. If you haven’t booked an appointment yet, please check the school ping sent on 4th October. If you are unable to attend on the dates, please contact the school office.

Achieve With Me

Following Parents’ Evening, you have another opportunity to visit school during our Achieve With Me week starting on the 11th November. This time, you can work with your child during the school day. Our focus for these sessions is Phonics and Spelling which is a crucial part of your child’s learning. These dates were communicated at the start of the year and they are on our school website calendar which can be accessed via

https://www.wvps.northants.sch.uk/calendar/?calid=1,2,3,5,6&pid=11&viewid=1

All sessions are 9-9.30am. Please wait outside your child’s usual classroom entrance after drop-off and we will let you in at 9am after we have registered the children. If you have more than one child on the same morning, we can accommodate you so that you get time with both. Please let your child’s teacher or a member of Senior Leadership staff know before or on the morning of the session.

Here is a reminder of the dates:

Volkswagen Project

We were recently visited by a team of volunteers from Volkswagen who spent the day in our school doing important and useful jobs. They did a range of painting, gardening and stocktaking throughout the day - and all with great energy and a smile. They even stayed later after the children had gone home to do more! We are very appreciative of the team and their efforts.

Half-Term Camps

We are again offering holiday camp opportunities during half-term for our Woodland View families through our club providers Craft Barn (Monday 28th October) and Freestyle (Tuesday 29th October). Please see the school ping sent on 8th October for more information. Alternatively, please contact the school for Craft Barn bookings or visit http://www.freestylegroup.co.uk/ for Freestyle bookings.

School Tours for children starting in September 2025

If you know of any families looking for school places for their children starting reception next September, please point them in the direction of our school website so they can find out more about us, consider us as their school choice and, most importantly, book a school tour. Thank you.
