Maths Week - MC Escher
This week in maths week we have been learning about famous graphic artist and mathematician Maurtis Cornelis Escher. He was most famous for his work with tessellation. Tessellation is the covering of a surface, using one or more geometric shapes, called tiles, with no overlaps and no gaps. We learned about Escher’s life and work and we used this as inspiration for our own tessellation pictures. We first worked on simple shapes like triangles and squares before producing our own artwork using animals. We made a tessellation artwork as a group using fish and individual artwork using different animals of our choosing.
