Maths Week... so far!
This week is Maths Week and we've been diving into some wonderful and engaging maths activities! We kicked things off with a fantastic video from our Woodland View maths ambassadors, who introduced us to Maths Week. Then, we read Equal Shmequal by Virginia Kroll, a story about a group of animals trying to play tug-of-war in a fair and balanced way so the larger, stronger animals don't always win. Ask your child to share what happens in the story! After reading the story, we worked in groups to explore various objects around the room and compared their weights using balancing scales. We used the '=' sign to indicate which objects had equal weight. For instance, we discovered that 4 pencil sharpeners = 3 highlighter pens. We did also have a go at playing tug-of-war too!
