Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi
As part of Maths week, we used the story ‘Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi’ to consider the properties of circles. Then, just like the main character in the story, Radius, we investigated cylindrical objects by measuring the diameter and the circumference. We then considered the relationship between these two measurements and discovered that the circumference was always ‘3 and a bit’ times larger than the diameter. We then learnt that we had discovered Pi (𝝅) which is a constant value that never changes and has an infinite number of decimal places!
