Learning About Algorithms with Bee-Bots
Today in computing, we introduced the concept of simple algorithms through a fun and interactive lesson using Bee-Bots! The children began by exploring what the Bee-Bots could do, discovering that they respond to four simple instructions: move forwards, backwards, and turn left or right.
We then discussed how the order of these instructions forms an algorithm, and how changing this order can lead to different outcomes. The children had a great time choosing four instructions to programme their Bee-Bots with, and they experimented by changing the order of commands to see how it would alter where their Bee-Bot ended up on the map.
This activity helped them understand the importance of sequencing in algorithms and was a fun way to develop their problem-solving skills.
