Veruca Salt poetry

Today we started the lesson by reading chapter 24 (Veruca in the Nut Room) of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We talked in depth about the Oompa-Loompa song relating to Veruca Salt and how rhyming couplets have been used and the impact these have. After doing this, we then worked in pairs to rewrite 4 lines of the Veruca Salt Oompa-Loompa song. We had to use eight syllables each in each of the four lines as well as two rhyming couplets with the pattern AABB.

At the end of the lesson, we read this out together as one giant poem and it sounded great!!
