Year 6 NFL Flag – County

On Friday, a team of Year 6 children represented the school in a county NFL Flag competition in Wellingborough. After only starting the sport in late February, it has been inspiring to see the team make such amazing progress in learning the rules and skills that are required to play the game. They have been practising during and after-school and have worked really hard to learn the game.

At the competition, it was the first time that all of our children had ever played a game of NFL Flag! They got off to an amazing start, winning 21-0 in a very commanding performance! They followed this up with three other outstanding victories, scoring with flair on offence and making game-winning stops on defence! By the end of the group stages, the team had finished first in the table, going unbeaten against all the other schools who were taking part! This meant that the children had already qualified for the regional finals (which will take place in Nottingham in early May)! In a 1st/2nd place final, the team were unfortunately beaten in a close, competitive game that came down to the wire at the end!

This is an outstanding achievement and we were thoroughly impressed and inspired by the children's enjoyment and achievements so far in the sport! We look forward to seeing them build on their amazing performances and seeing how far they can go at the regional stages in a few weeks' time! Well done to each of the children on this amazing achievement!
