Buzzing About Brass Lessons!

On Thursday 5SB had their first SoundStart Brass session. Mr Batty and Mr McFarlane showed us some brass instruments and we learnt about the different parts of them. We also learnt that it was no good just blowing down the instrument, you had to make your lips buzz to make a sound on the instruments. We learnt how to buzz by putting our little finger in our mouths and pretending it was a straw. We then took the 'straw' out and tried to buzz. Mr McFarlane then used his Harry Potter Sorting Hat powers to decide which instrument would suit our buzz. We were each given an instrument and had a go at buzzing with our mouthpieces. Mr Batty and Mr McFarlane were really impressed with our listening skills.
