Preparing to ‘bee’ amazing!
As they begin their SATs preparation, the children in Year 6 worked in pairs this afternoon to answer questions relating to an old SATs text: a factsheet about bumblebees. This gave the children the opportunity to practise their VIPERS skills and demonstrate cooperation. The children also discussed different ways of answering the questions (work all the way through, start with the 1-mark questions and move one, etc.), tested their reading stamina and highlighted the text to make sure that they were evidencing and wording their answers to fit the mark scheme!
After spending time working through the text, and answering all the questions, the children spent some time marking their answers – thinking carefully about how they can maximise the marks they can score. It was wonderful to see everyone working cooperatively and helping each other to unlock and achieve their potential!
