World Book Day

There was a great ‘buzz’ in school yesterday as the children celebrated World Book Day.

World Book Day is a magical day in school as it helps inspire children to love reading. Across the school children took part in a range of exiting book activities to share their favourite authors, characters and stories with others. We loved seeing the children’s favourite characters come to life! I’m sure you’ll agree that their costumes looked incredible.

There is a selection of photos, showing the children with their favourite books in our school library! We hope you enjoy these ‘shelvies’. The teachers will have also uploaded some more World Book Day photos for you to enjoy on SchoolShare.

Earlier the week all children were given their £1 book token. They can either buy a free (£1 with the voucher) World Book Day book, or get £1 off any book or audiobook worth £2.99. The voucher is valid until the 26th March. We hope the children enjoy selecting a new book to share with you.

Thank you for your generous donations for Book Aid International. We raised a total of £254.79.

Where’s Wally?

We had a school wide hunt for Wally and his friends Woof, Wenda and Wizard Whitebeard to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first edition of Where’s Wally? These books are an engaging way to encourage children to develop their skimming and scanning reading skills, whilst having lots of fun!

The ten Wally figures, and his friends, were hidden in secret locations around the school and the children had great fun working together to hunt them down! We later revealed the answers in our special assembly.

Thank you again for supporting World Book Day and encouraging children to become enthusiastic readers.

Best wishes,

Miss Mee
