Safer Internet Day 2017

Dear Parents,

February 7th 2017 was Safer Internet Day, a day that is very important to our school and pupils. Safer Internet Day is coordinated by the Insafe network and is celebrated every year across Europe, and in other countries worldwide. In the UK, Safer Internet Day is organised by the UKSafer Internet Centre (www.saferinternetday.org.uk), and this year’s theme was “Be the change: Unite for a better internet.”

Whilst we all want our children to enjoy using the internet, children are vulnerable when they are online.  Never before have children been exposed to so many risks from the safety of their own home. Sadly, our children will face unexpected and difficult situations online so we must empower them with the skills to recognise risky and unsafe situations, guard their private information and know how to seek help when they need it.

Please see the letter to find out more information about how you can help your child become more ‘digitally resilient.’

Many thanks,

Helen Mee

Deputy Head
