Google Expeditions Workshop

Woodland View was one of the lucky schools to participate in Google’s Expeditions Pioneer Programme. This incorporates virtual reality to bring lessons to life and take pupils to places they wouldn’t be able to go. Pupils can explore anywhere from Mars to the Great Barrier Reef to the inside of Buckingham Palace, without ever leaving the classroom.

Our KS2 children experienced this amazing new technology this week. The teachers led their classes on expeditions using a tablet. The children used Google Cardboard viewers that allowed them to see 360 degree views of the scenes while the teachers guided them to points of interest.

This was a fantastic opportunity for the school and both the children and the teachers thoroughly enjoyed it.

Many thanks to Google and Kirri who visited us to set up the system and supported us during the sessions.
