Y4 Anglo-Saxon Trip

NewsComments Off on Y4 Anglo-Saxon Trip

Year 4 children took part in an exciting trip to support our learning about the Anglo Saxons for this half term. After a group introduction the children were split into 5 groups and rotated through the following activities:

  • The preparation, building and construction of a traditional Anglo Saxon hut using natural resources and materials
  • Learning and developing the skills to weave traditional nets to send with the Anglo Saxon sailors for fishing.
  • Acquiring the skills to succeed in a traditional game of Anglo Saxon chess and draughts – developing the strategies to outwit their opponent.
  • Designing, planning and creating sophisticated clay drinking goblets for ale and mead.
Finally, preparing a fully functioning fire in order to maintain heat, survival, food and protection.

These fantastic experiences took place at the Compton Verney Forest School site.
